Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice and Orange Box Young People’s Centre announced as 2017 partner charities

Business people across Kirklees and Calderdale are coming together for a second year to host a Christmas lunch to raise money for two local charities which help young people.

The annual Kirklees and Calderdale Charity Lunch (KACCL) will take place on Thursday 7 December at Cedar Court Hotel, Ainley Top, to raise money for Orange Box Young People’s Centre in Halifax and Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, based in Huddersfield.

The inaugural event last December raised an impressive £18,000 in aid of Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice and this year the organisers are hoping to raise an extra £6,000, taking the total amount fundraised to £24,000.

Last year the children’s hospice, which supports families of children across Kirklees, Calderdale and Wakefield, who have a life-shortening condition, was the sole beneficiary but this year the KACCL committee voted for a second local charity to benefit from the fundraising activity.

Orange Box, a centre for young people in Halifax, which has a range of facilities including a roof top skate park and recording studio, alongside counselling and support services, was voted the charity of choice and the total amount fundraised from the event will be split equally between the two charities.

The business lunch event will follow the same format as last year, with a champagne reception, three course lunch and entertainment provided by young performers from the area. Tickets are priced at £50 per person for tables of 10 to 12 people.

The KACCL organising committee represents 12 figures from local businesses including JR Group UK Ltd, Chadwick Lawrence, Stafflex, TopicUK, Faith PR and Crowther Accountants who are also headline sponsor for the second year running.

Last year’s event was attended by 240 people in the local business community; a number the committee hopes to surpass by an extra 20% this year.
Nadio Granata, chair of the KACCL Committee and head of marketing at Stafflex Ltd said: “Following the success of our first Christmas business lunch last year, we’ve decided to host the event again but extend the reach of the money raised to benefit two important charities for young people and their families in our area.

“We’re really looking forward to this year’s event – it will bring local businesses together and will most importantly raise money for the vital services Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice and Orange Box provide.”
