In light of the outbreak of coronavirus and the Government’s advice about social distancing, we have taken the difficult but appropriate decision to cancel our 2020 KACCL event, which as you are aware was due to be held on Thursday 3rd December 2020.
We are incredibly disappointed that the event cannot proceed. However, our first priority is to protect our guests and the staff at the venue.
We are hoping for a bigger and better 2021 and are hosting our next event on Thursday 2nd December 2021 at the Cedar Court Hotel in Huddersfield. We would love it if you could join us on this date.
As you will appreciate KACCL raises a magnificent sum each year for very deserving charities and, with your help, we aim to continue this next December, as they really need our support.

Local businesspeople from across Kirklees and Calderdale have together raised a fantastic £32,446 through a Christmas lunch in aid of local children’s charities – a record-breaking amount contributing to the £100,000 KACCL has raised over the last four years.
The fourth annual Kirklees & Calderdale Annual Christmas Lunch (KACCL) was held on Thursday 5 December at the Cedar Court Hotel in Huddersfield in aid of Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice and the Orange Box Choir (part of Square Chapel Arts Centre community outreach programme.)
Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice supports local children and families with life-limiting conditions across Kirklees, Calderdale, Wakefield and Manchester. The Orange Box Choir in association with Square Chapel Arts Centre in Halifax, meanwhile, aims to bring together the schools and services across Calderdale, providing a platform for members to grow in confidence by expressing their musical talent in a safe place.
The lunch, sponsored by Huddersfield’s Crowther Chartered Accountants, was attended by 305 people from across the local business community and kicked off with a drinks reception followed by a spectacular three-course meal and charity auction.
Attendees also enjoyed an inspiring performance by the Orange Box Choir, featuring additional-needs singer Annabelle Riley. Supported by donations from KACCL, Annabelle has been able to flourish as a performer since she made her stage debut at last year’s event.
Annabelle lives with several conditions and requires full-time support. Her performance brought tears to the eyes of the whole audience when she performed a truly moving and symbolic duet with her mother Caroline.

Steve Crowther, chair of KACCL 2019, said: “Once again the lunch has been a fantastic success, it is a credit to the local business communities to have been able to raise such an astounding amount for both our chosen charities.
“On behalf of the KACCL committee, I’d like to extend a massive thank you to everyone who attended, including the many local businesses who generously provided their services, donated raffle and auction prizes and raised funds for these incredible causes. Every donation makes such a huge difference to each charity to support young people and families in our local areas.
“It was fabulous to have Annabelle Riley and the Orange Box Choir perform once again; it is a real testament to the good work and support the donations from the event can provide.”
Jamie Eagleton, Arts Outreach Officer at the Orange Box Centre, added: “Square Chapel and the Orange Box Choir who reside here are incredibly grateful for the continued support from KACCL and the local businesses that enable us to support and nurture young people within the area.
“It is not the donations alone that help us to continue the work that we do, it is the ongoing support with raising awareness around who we are and what we do that really goes a long way.”

Attendees also enjoyed entertainment by compere Pete Emmett, a heartfelt speech by Emma and Colin Harwood whose daughter has attended Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice for the past three years, as well as an uplifting performance by the Orange Box Choir.

Once again, due to popular demand, our KACCL lunch has sold out.
This year, we’ve managed to increase capacity in order to squeeze in more guests for our spectacular event raising funds for two very much deserving causes.
The KACCL committee would like to thank all guests and businesses that have purchased a table. We are looking forward to creating yet again another memorable charity lunch.
Our third annual Kirklees and Calderdale Charity Lunch (KACCL) has created an extra 35 places for this year’s event due to demand for tickets from the local business community.
This year’s event will take place on Thursday 6 December at Cedar Court Hotel in Huddersfield and our committee have upped the venue capacity to 300 seats. Tickets are priced at £50 per person for tables of 10 to 12 people.
Our charity Christmas lunch has become a popular event in the local business calendar with two local charities, Orange Box young people’s centre in Halifax, and Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, based in Huddersfield, set to benefit from money raised on the day.
The team are hoping that the fundraising total will surpass last year’s £24,000, with money raised being split equally between the two charities.
The funds from KACCL will support The Orange Box Choir in Association with Square Chapel, Orange Box Rock School music workshops, and ‘Routes’ Youth Music Festival, which provides a platform for young musicians to showcase their talent on an open stage.
Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice will use the funds to help with their continued services which benefit families across West Yorkshire and East Lancashire. The hospice supports families of children across Kirklees, Calderdale and Wakefield who have a life-shortening condition.
Our event, which offers a great networking opportunity for local professionals, will follow the same format as the previous two years, with a prosecco reception, three course lunch and entertainment.
Last year’s event was attended by 265 people in the local business community who enjoyed a special performance from 16-year-old singer Callum Butterworth, Orange Box young people’s choir, and well-loved magician and performer John Danbury.

As our third event draws closer, the committee is busy planning what we hope to be one of the most spectacular events of the year.
But what makes our charity lunch so special, is the amount of money raised for our beneficiaries, enabling them to carry out the amazing work that they do in our area, and most importantly helping young people. Last year we raised a staggering £22,000 which was donated to Forget Me Not Childrens Hospice and Orangebox Young People’s Centre.
For the event to raise the money we do, we create opportunities for our guests, businesses and associates to donate. We do this in a variety of formats, our most popular method of raising additional funds is through an auction. Last year the auction contributed 26% of the total amount raised. It also adds a fun element to our event when there’s some competition in the room!
All auction prizes are donated prior and we rely heavily on our contacts to enable us to bring such exciting opportunities.
